Practitioners holding an active Ohio license may provide teletherapy services to Ohio residents. The Laws and Rules [PDF] of the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, & Marriage and Family Therapist Board defines “teletherapy” as services provided online or via phone. According to Ohio standards of practice and professional conduct for electronic services delivery, practitioners providing counseling, social work or marriage and family therapy via teletherapy to persons physically present in Ohio shall be licensed in Ohio.

Chapter 4732.01 of the Ohio Laws and Administrative Rules for Psychologists defines “Telepsychology" as the practice of psychology or school psychology by distance communication technology, including telephone, electronic mail, internet-based communications, and video conferencing.
