Teletherapy Guide for Minnesota

General Information -
All Licensures

Practitioners holding an active Minnesota license may provide teletherapy services to Minnesota residents.Telephonic or “telephone only” communication is not covered under the definition of telehealth.Click here for a comprehensive summary of Minnesota Laws and Policies regarding telehealth [PDF].

Psychology Information

Teletherapy included with state license. Must abide by all in-person care standards. In the case that a complaint is filed alleging that the practitioner is not competent in providing teletherapy, the burden of proof is on the practitioner to demonstrate adequate training and experience in using teletherapy as a means of therapy.
